Aidan Howes x Stubbyz: The 27 Breweries Hiding in Sydney Harbeer

Two designs. Two weeks. Then they're gone.

We've spent the last month or so working with Sydney illustrator Aidan Howes on something we've wanted to do for a long time: put a genuinely good piece of Australian illustration on a stubby cooler and not compromise on either half of that.

The result is two designs, and they open for pre-order from 2 September to 16 September. After that the run closes and goes into production. Orders ship from 16th September.

Sydney Harbeer [Link]

Aidan rebuilt Sydney Harbour entirely out of beer. The Harbour Bridge arcs over turquoise water, a ferry made from a ring pull crosses in front of it, and the skyline behind is not a skyline at all. It's cans.

Twenty-seven real Australian craft breweries are drawn into it, label by label, close enough to recognise if you know them. Most people spot Young Henrys first because the green is unmistakable. The rest take a while, which is exactly the point.

Koala Point Tower [Link]

The second design sends a skyscraper-sized koala up Sydney Tower. One arm hooked around the golden turret, the other holding a cold one out to whoever is looking. Below, the CBD sprawls in dusty terracotta and sage under a pink evening sky, and the ibises have taken the high ground, including the very top of the tower.

It's the sillier of the two, and it has been the one people reach for first every time we've put them side by side.

Who is Aidan Howes?

Aidan is a Sydney-based designer and illustrator whose work runs on wildlife, Aussie iconography and cold beer, of which Sydney has no shortage. He started out doing graphics for local businesses and broke into craft beer through Garage Project's rotating artist program for its Fresh IPA releases.

He has since designed more than 100 beer cans, along with festival posters, t-shirt graphics, murals, and at least one pair of Budgy Smugglers. You have almost certainly held one of his cans without knowing it.

All of them come in Standard sizing perfect for a craft can! The artwork is full colour dye sublimation, which means the colour goes into the neoprene rather than sitting on top of it, so there's no printed layer to crack, peel or wash off.

Why pre-order?

Aidan's artwork is printed in a single production run rather than kept in stock. We open orders first, then print to that demand. It means less waste, and it's the only way for us to know how many to make. The run is LIMITED.

The window closes 16th September @ 11:59pm AEST. After that, the run is locked.
